December 2019 HoroscopesNov 27, 2019
Your December 2019 Monthly Horoscopes are here! The big news in December is, of course, the arrival of Jupiter into Capricorn on December 2nd. In fact, all things Capricorn are in the frame this month, as Saturn, Pluto, Jupiter, Venus, and a new moon solar eclipse on the 26th bring us a hearty dose of the sea goat’s wise, steadying influence.
Capricorn can endure quite a lot, but even the most stiff upper lipped among this crowd would admit that since Pluto’s entry into their sign in 2008, life has hit them with one dizzying blow after another. And while the goat endures as it always does, Capricorn may look a little worse for wear after twelve relentless years of Pluto’s bulldozer of doom. But now the most besieged sign in the zodiac will feel the influence of Jupiter’s rejuvenation, its promises of opportunity, love, prosperity, and wisdom put to good use. And Capricorn certainly has a lot of the last one—hard-earned wisdom from the depths of Pluto’s trenches. It is time for Capricorn (and everyone else) to feel the regenerative effects of Pluto wherever Capricorn falls in your chart. The regenerative effects are intensified by a new moon solar eclipse at 4 degrees Capricorn with Jupiter also conjunct at 5 degrees Capricorn. To me, this energy suggests many of us will be concerned with expansive new visions/vistas for our lives, depending on where the eclipse activates our charts. We want to take a risk—but a calculated one—a risk that our intuition and wisdom can get behind. This is a chance to put recent soul lessons into play, to show the Universe how far we’ve come, to shift into a vibration that is more aligned with growing something real in our lives, something that in the past we may not have been able to do simply because there was too much “stuff” standing in the way. This new moon solar eclipse helps us take the first brick and lay the foundation to create a yellow brick road that will lead to our own personal land of Oz in a year’s time.

Your ambitions (among other things) are aroused this month, Aries. Your tenth house of career feels the Capricorn CEO gravitas to whip out your Passion Planner and outline your exit strategy from a career situation that has spiked your blood pressure and done little to fill your bank account. Whatever golden pentacles you plan on manifesting this month and all of next year will fund your escape plan, your raison d’etre, your real work in the world (and it sure isn’t what you’ve been doing thus far). Dream big, Aries. Envision all the good you’ll do in the world when you’re not handcuffed to some desk of the daily grind, churning out another soulless spreadsheet. Jupiter should bring you some cash this month—a bonus or lucky windfall. You’ve been learning to be wiser with your coins, Aries, and you’ll put aside a percentage of those pennies from heaven to fund your dream, but I also suggest you allow yourself a wee indulgence or two. The work is only going to intensify (because you’re manifesting something pretty substantial), so it’s imperative you treat yourself while you have the time at the holidays. The new moon solar eclipse helps you tune into the bigger picture of where you want to be, career wise, a year from now. When Saturn and Pluto join together here on January 12th, it’s all systems go, shirtsleeves rolled, your sight firmly fixed on your most important goal. (P.S. - Don’t forget tending to that other part of your life that’s been awakened from a dead sleep. That fire needs to be fed, darling.) Once upon a time, back in the days before satellite car navigation systems, I was driving alone on the twisty, turny back roads in the southern California mountains on my way to the old mining town of Julian. Being a sensitive type, I was soon feeling carsick from the vertiginous roads. Thankfully, I came upon a roadside farm stand selling apples and homemade apple pie. I suspected my queasiness was due to not having had breakfast that morning, and I was correct. I bought the biggest slice of apple pie they had and ate it without a fork in the parking lot (heathen, I know). Eventually, I made it to Julian’s 4,226 elevation in the beautiful Cuyamaca mountains. I was enchanted by the town’s quirky old buildings straight out of a Hollywood western and stunning views of mountains mined for their gold. As I stood on the far edge of town taking in the view, I had an epiphany— the kind you often get when you’re on vacation, far from your natural habitat, the strangeness of the current place opening up a portal for you to step into a world of imaginative possibility, the potential of what you can create if you just could see your life from a higher vantage point. I tell you this story, Taurus, because I see a similar situation arising for you in December. You may feel slightly nauseous over recent developments, but all you need is a little sweet relief right now to get on with the show. Maybe it’s apple pie. Maybe it’s a new pair of shoes you’ve been eyeing. Maybe it’s a plane ticket to another life. Personally, I would choose the last one. Take the more direct route to your epiphany, Taurus (not the twisted back roads). December is about to show you exciting possibilities for a more adventurous life—and they stretch as far as the eye can see. The thing is: you have got to get to a place where you can see the bigger picture (and purpose) of your life. In doing so, you’re bound to strike gold. That old saying, “money makes the world go round” is true, but I would say, “love makes the world go round.” As much as money is a necessity in life, I would argue that love is even more so. While money can bring joy, it is often a fleeting feeling. Love, on the other hand, can sustain us even long after it’s gone—through that invisible golden cord of connection and memory. I’m happy to report that this month you should be feeling the truth of both these things making your world go round, Gemini. No longer will you need to sustain yourself on only memories of love gone by. No longer will you be wistfully gazing at your bank account wondering where all the cash went. The Universe wants to fill your boots this month. To welcome in this fresh energy, name it and claim it. What is the dollar amount you want? What does this new love feel like? Put yourself in the zone of trusting that all you require is on its way to you. Then sit back and relax. Or go plan a holiday party for friends, family, co-workers. Give a few quarters to the Salvation Army Santa ringing his/her obnoxious bell in front of Wal-mart. You’re not giving to get, but rather showing the Universe that you are part of the flow of life and love. No more holding back, Gemini. You can trust this new world that is manifesting before your eyes—a new world filled with much more love and prosperity. Your personal full moon arrives on December 12th—some beautiful desire is realized at this time, filling your heart with almost more joy than it can hold. “Hell is other people,” is perhaps one of the most misunderstood quotes of all time. Its author, eminent writer and philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, explains, “It has been thought that what I meant by that was that our relations with other people are always poisoned, that they are invariably hellish…But what I really mean is something totally different. I mean that if relations with someone else are twisted, vitiated, then that other person can only be hell. Why? Because … when we think about ourselves, when we try to know ourselves … we use the knowledge of us which other people already have. We judge ourselves with the means other people have and have given us for judging ourselves.” Short version: Stop believing the shit other people think about you and making yourself feel bad in the process. Stop the comparisonitis, trolling your social media feeds to find “evidence” that you are somehow “less than.” Stop playing the fool in someone else’s mind game. It’s time to let go of “twisted” relationships in which you’re wandering through a hall of funhouse mirrors, unable to get a clear sense of who you really are. I suggest steeping yourself in the wisdom of those other 20th century philosophers, The Psychedelic Furs, who sing: “Heaven /Is the whole of the heart / And heaven don't tear you apart.” The escape route from this relationship hell you’ve found yourself in is pretty clear, although its wisdom has devolved into cliche: follow your heart. This month the time is right for jumping the ship bound for Hades. Your heaven is closer than you think, Cancer, and you’ll find it in the moon rising to its fullness over a calm sea. The solar eclipse at the end of December—plus a big eclipse coming in your sign on January 10th—brings you the courage you need to change your life. Most languages have idioms—those pithy sayings lifted from a book of cultural folklore, compiled by some crotchety know-it-all with too much time on their hands. The one that comes to mind for you this month, Leo, is that gem: “Don’t get too big for your britches.” Now, I don’t think this is necessarily advice about sticking to your diet and steering yourself away from the holiday cheesecake and cookies (although with expansive Jupiter soon to enter your house of health, it could be prudent to lay off what will—literally—expand your waistline). The idea behind this idiom is that you should not swell up with too much of that Leo pride, swishing your gorgeous mane all over the place, letting everyone know how great you are. No one likes a show off, old crotchety pants proclaims. Well, I would disagree. We need theater. We need glamour. We need show-offs precisely because they show us what is possible, how it’s done, what to aim for. This month you will indeed have something glorious to celebrate. And while it is likely to be connected to a professional achievement, it could also be that you’re feeling larger than life because of a deeply personal wish coming true. Someone in your world absolutely adores the glorious creature that you are, Leo—and if that isn’t reason enough to strut your stuff (with that adoring lover on your arm), then I don’t know what is. Crotchety idiom writers be damned! Get as big as your britches will allow. (P.S. According to my Grandma B., a Leo: “All your grandfather had to do was throw his britches over the bedpost and I got pregnant.”). Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. Why is it that the protagonist in childhood fairytales is always granted three wishes? I have often wondered. Is it because sometimes people craft their wishes with too much haste, not considering the long-term consequences of the wish coming true? Or is it because children need to learn a healthy selfishness and not waste their wishes on what would make other people happy? Or is it because we often wish for something too practical, thereby wasting the chance to bring a truly life-altering magic into our lives? The Universe is about to grant you three wishes, dear Virgo. One in regard to your home, one in regard to your resources, and one in regard to your creativity. All three of these areas are intimately connected, and I would suggest that you consider that connection when you write down your wishes for manifestation after the new moon on December 26th. Long-term consequences of a magical sort are about to be unleashed in your life; a little healthy selfishness would go a long way. It’s time to make yourself happy. When I was a child, I used to spend a lot of time with my Grandma B. On her living room coffee table were thin mints, an ashtray filled with her Kool cigarette nubs, and True Confessions magazine. Like clockwork, she’d fall asleep every afternoon halfway through Days of Our Lives, her favorite soap opera. While she napped, I regularly snuck into the pantry for a few Oreos, her True Confessions tucked under my arm. Propped up on the pantry counter, I got cookie crumbs in between the pages of some spicy reading. My mother didn’t want me to watch the afternoon soaps with Grandma—little did she know I was probably doing something much worse. See, True Confessions was a hotbed of intrigue my seven year old self probably shouldn’t have been reading. As Rebecca McCarthy writes in The Awl: “The heroine [in True Confessions] falls in love with someone she’s not supposed to. She runs away from a stifling home environment and gets too drunk. Her ‘vanity’ leads her to dress provocatively. Simply put, she’s human—but the end result is always disaster.” I share this childhood memory with you, dear Libra, because it is apropos to what Life has been like for you lately—the days of your life have been like a soap opera, and the outcome hasn’t always been pretty. Thankfully, you don’t need to take up chain smoking to deal with the next bit of energy headed your way. A decided shift is here for you, particularly in regards to home, family, and living situations. While you have indeed felt like running away from home (perhaps with an unsuitable paramour), some revelation will stop you in the nick of time. And that revelation centers around understanding that to get anything to change, you first have to own up to your part in what needs changing. It’s True Confessions time, Libra—but if you speak from the heart, I can almost guarantee you that the result will not be disastrous, but the very stuff of a holiday miracle. Someone has been waiting very patiently to hear from you, Scorpio. They may have to wait a bit longer, however, because you are quite fired up about your personal agenda this month with little time for anything or anyone else. Scorpio is not normally one for Hallmark sentiment or string-along saccharine compliments. However, you should know that this person’s patience has about reached its limit. One truly kind, heartfelt communication from you about what’s really going and why they need to wait just a little longer to spend more time with you would do wonders to assuage their fears that they’re not number one on your priority list. They think you’ve lost interest. You haven’t—far from it, in fact. It’s just that when Mars is in your sign, you have to prioritize yourself over anything else. What they also don’t know—and what you may want to tell them eventually—is that you are undergoing a profound shift in perspective. You’re looking for a way to bring this person into your life in a more significant way, but you just haven’t figured out how that’s going to happen yet. The puzzle pieces will fall into place after the new moon on the 26th. Until then, get shit done on that mile-long list. And while you’re at it, you can let that person know they’re still important—say it with flowers, if you have to, but say it. Take a leaf out of Leo’s seduction playbook and make a grand gesture. It will have a far greater positive impact than you realize. Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. Happy Birthday, Sagittarius! Some Sagittarians are really pissed (not in the British sense, as in “drunk,” but in the American sense as in “mad as hell.”). You see, some Sagittarians have felt the world owed them a living when Jupiter was cruising through their sign. They were under this impression because isn’t that usually what the standard cosmic lore often promises—a bounty, bevy, boatload of wishes fulfilled when Jupiter transits one’s own sun sign? Sagittarians, ever the champions of truth and justice, are pissed because something terribly unjust has occurred: Jupiter was square Neptune most of 2019, thereby neutralizing most of its positive effects, dissolving them into a haze of half-hearted manifestations. Naturally, unfulfilled potential can dampen one’s enthusiasm. It’s understandable—and yes, possibly unjust. However, I also know that you’re not one to hold a grudge. Perhaps all your champagne wishes and caviar dreams didn’t manifest in 2019, but now as Jupiter moves into your second house of money, values, and self-esteem, you should find the energy helps balance out your bank account and your confidence levels. Some victory in this regard should manifest around the December 12th full moon. If you are wanting to shape-shift into a new career, then set your plan in motion after December 26th. You will see that in 2020 your ship will come in as you commit to a bigger, bolder destiny. Jupiter transiting through your sign wasn’t a total bust—it helped you regain a sense of direction and faith in yourself that you can make it through anything. “Turn and face the strange—ch, ch, changes.” David Bowie (rest in peace) was a Capricorn who sadly did not survive the transit of Pluto in his sign. I'm not saying the same thing is going to happen to you, Cappy—yet in a sense it has, for you are certainly not the same person you were even a year ago. There has been a death of the old you. As you approach your birthday, Capricorn, looking back on your life and all the change Pluto has wrought since 2008, you are facing some strangeness indeed and have been quite aware of what you’ve been going through this last decade. And with this awareness has come the acute understanding of Time. As Jupiter enters your sign and as the clock of your heart gets reset with the new moon solar eclipse in your sign on December 26th, Life will give you a chance to regain lost time, lost love, and lost opportunities. This month you are everyone’s favorite and are on all the holiday party guest lists, but do take some time out from the fray to give yourself the gift of letting go. Around the full moon on the 12th would be a good time to do this. I suggest writing down a history of your losses since 2008 and then burning the paper at the full moon. Rituals of burning help you cleanse the pain of the past. Then, on the new moon on December 26th, write a new list: the one that details your most cherished hopes, dreams, and wishes to manifest in 2020 and beyond. The strange changes are over and done with. The serendipitous ones? They’re just beginning. (P.S. And go buy yourself some new clothes at the after-Christmas sales—the new you needs a new wardrobe.) “How Deep is your Love” was a BeeGees song from the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack in 1977. While this may be a good question to ask a Scorpio, it doesn’t entirely resonate with an Aquarius. For you, I would choose “How Swoon-Worthy is your Love” although that does not have the same ring to it. But my point is: you want to feel as though Love is going to take your breath away, not drown you in its depths. The word “swoon” has always been one of my favorites; it sounds so silly, so dramatic, so Victorian—conjuring up images of ladies collapsing on velvet divans with smelling salts after a Snidely Whiplash dandy gets too personal with his handlebar mustache. Oh the swooning that went on back in the day! To “swoon” does mean to feel as though one is going to faint, but its secondary meaning (from Merriam-Webster) is: “a state of bewilderment or ecstasy.” Welcome to your month of swooning, Aquarius. And yes, it’s a little bewildering at the same time it’s so exciting. The full moon in Gemini on the 12th promises to reveal a paramour from out of the shadows—or, if you already have a paramour, you may be swept off your feet in a dazzling display of affection that has not rocked your velvet cushions in quite a while. Read my metaphor as you will, Aquarius. Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. And if you need support navigating a personal situation, book a reading with me.
You are the artful conjurer, the cosmic shape-shfiter, the dreamer par excellence of the zodiac, yet even you with all your skills don’t always find manifestation a straightforward or easy process. Sometimes your desires manifest as a half-baked cake left out in the rain, and sometimes they manifest as the most exquisite Fabergé egg—golden and encrusted with jewels, a miniature surprise tucked inside. The good news is that your powers are going to be a little less failed Betty Crocker and more surgically precise Peter Carl Fabergé from now on with Jupiter entering your 11th house of wishes. Next year it will eventually meet up with Pluto and Saturn, solidifying your manifesting efforts into tangible goodies. This month you will get your new and improved manifesting mojo up to speed by the full moon on the 12th. Focus on bringing some fresh decoration, new life, new energy into your home—new furniture, a new pet, maybe some fun-loving houseguests. At the end of the month, the new moon solar eclipse encourages you to get serious about the one big goal that—if manifested—would entirely change your life in miraculous ways. It’s a good time to create a gorgeous vision board upon which you can focus your energy in 2020. Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy.
