February 2020 HoroscopesFeb 08, 2020
Your February 2020 Monthly Horoscopes are [finally] here! The big news in February is Mars moving into Capricorn on the 16th--the same day that Mercury goes retrograde for three weeks.
Overall, this month's energies are fairly mild compared to the heaviness of last month's lunar eclipse in Cancer and Saturn/Pluto conjunction. Of course, the Saturn/Pluto energy is really with us all year, but they will not be fully conjunct again this year. The full moon in Leo occurs on the 8th/9th; there's supportive fire sign energy as Mars finishes up his transit in Sagittarius and Venus begins her love fest in Aries. The new moon in Pisces on the 23rd is sextile Jupiter in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus--but mischief maker Mercury is retrograde. So something new and lovely could develop, but a twist is involved in terms of how it eventually manifests. The usual Mercury retrograde cautions apply--when in doubt, wait. If something is truly meant for you, it won't pass you by.

The other day as I was zipping around Wal-Mart, one of my favorite Tears for Fears songs—“Everybody Wants to Rule the World—was buzzing through my head. I had been watching old ‘80s videos on YouTube the last few days, catching up on videos I missed when they were first released because I didn’t have cable TV (and thus no MTV). I was so filled with the happy vibe of the music and of old, fond memories when that music first came out, that I couldn’t help but sing aloud as I cruised through the aisles. I’m sharing this with you, fellow Aries, because I predict a similar situation could happen to you this month. As Venus moves through your sign in February as of the 7th, you’re looking good and feeling fine—and not shy about strutting your stuff in the hallowed aisles of Wal-mart. Who cares if they think your singing sounds like aardvarks mating. Who cares if you get so caught up in feeling good that you blow all your grocery money on beer and tacos (and forget to get the cat food). You’re the one, this month, Aries, to show the rest of us how to “make the most of freedom and of pleasure…” The full moon in Leo on the weekend of the 8th/9th with Mars finishing up its journey in Sagittarius adds to your buoyant mood. You’re putting your personal stamp of creative self-expression out into the world and feeling pretty good about how it’s being received. The mood shifts a bit on the 16th as Mercury in Pisces goes retrograde and Mars (your ruler) enters Capricorn. The later half of February could feel like these lyrics from the aforementioned song: “I can't stand this indecision / married with a lack of vision / everybody wants to rule the world.” And you need to ask yourself, Aries, why are you giving your power away and letting someone else rule your world with their wishy-washy indecision and their inability to see your value? You have the vision for your life, you are motivated, you are freaking on fire with Venus in your sign—time to work your magic like only you can. Sure, Mercury is retrograde—that just means that your happiness is tied to remembering the good parts of who you were in the past, and bringing those good bits forward into now, and into your future. As of February 4th, 2020 U.S. astronaut Christina Koch broke the record for the longest single spaceflight made by a woman. She lived and worked in space for 328 days. In an interview with the media, Koch said, “I’m definitely looking forward to being on the same planet as everybody else pretty soon.” However, when asked about her future with NASA, she said she would “absolutely accept an offer to fly on a crewed mission to Mars in the future.” Koch’s journey is similar to the energy of your month, Taurus, as you continue to navigate surprise-a-minute Uranus moving forward in your sign (as of last month) and a spectacular full moon in Leo on the 8th/9th in your fourth house of home and family. I suspect that since last August you were wondering if you would ever again feel like you were living on the same planet as everyone else—relationships could have felt distant, mis-aligned, discouraging—like you were trying to connect and communicate from a galaxy far, far away. The full moon brings this energy to a peak as you finally let those who are close to you know where your head’s been at these last few months. It’s not that you were deliberately trying to hide something. On the contrary—the major, mind-blowing trip you’ve been on didn’t leave you much time to process let alone articulate the inner changes you’ve been going through. Someone close to you needs to know that you’re not running away from them—rather, you’re running toward some essential exploration of your very soul—whether that means a trip to Mars or a zen mountaintop retreat in Maui. When Mars enters Capricorn on the 16th, your ninth house of the big picture of your life, and as Mercury goes retrograde in Pisces on the same day in your 11th house of hopes and wishes, it’s a good time to reflect on where you want to head next on your journey. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to go where you haven’t gone before. Literally. Figuratively. You game? Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. And if you need support navigating a personal situation, book a reading with me.
Ever nod off on the sofa with your glasses on while watching television, Gemini? I do it all the time. And then when I get into bed, glasses off, I’m wide awake and it takes forever for me to fall asleep. My point in telling you this is that you may be in a similar situation this month. Something about the current level of excitement in your life needs adjusting—either you’ve got too much going on and you’re burning yourself out trying to keep up with it all (and thus are falling asleep at inopportune times)—or you’ve sunk into a pit of brooding about the past and worrying if you’ll ever get your groove back so that you can’t easily slip into the land of dreams (and thus are waking up cranky from lack of sleep). Venus traveling through Aries in February in your 11th house of hopes and dreams reminds you that day and night exist like yin and yang, peanut butter and jelly, and the two halves of your own Gemini self. One needs the other, and both work better when the two are balanced. The problem has been that you’ve been only seeing one side of your current situation and your vision needs adjusting. The full moon in Leo on the 8th/9th reveals how blessed you really are. Your cup is truly half full, Gemini, not half empty! Hold that thought, for when Mars moves into Capricorn on the 16th and energizes your 8th house of personal transformation, it’s game on to re-align yourself with only those commitments that energize you in the right way—not to the point of exhaustion or worry. Toward the end of the month you are re-evaluating your career satisfaction, and if you need to look for a new job, do so after the new moon in Pisces on the 23rd. With Mercury retrograde at that time (until March 9th), connecting with colleagues from the past could be your ticket to a new gig. Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. And if you need support navigating a personal situation, book a reading with me.
“What you risk reveals what you value,” wrote Jeanette Winterson. This is an apt quote for the energies of February, Cancer, as they pertain to your overall direction in life, something that’s been very much on your mind lately. The full moon in Leo on the 8th/9th lights up your house of values, and should reveal to you exactly where your efforts have gotten you thus far in work and health matters. You’ve taken a risk on changing up some long-held pattens of behavior—some stemming back to childhood—and that’s rarely easy for a Cancer to do. Congratulations, my dear! No longer are you holding your happiness hostage to the past; you’re making clear strides toward valuing a future that you create based on values that you are choosing for yourself, rather than ones that are trust on you by family and/or tradition. Venus transits your 10th house of career all of February, so some lovely affirmation that you are on the right track should manifest. With Mercury retrograde on the 16th in your house of the “big vision” for your life, you will be re-aligning yourself with a hobby, talent, passion from the past that you perhaps had to abandon due to pressures/obligations from health or family. The new moon in Pisces on the 23rd is a good time to reset your intentions for your future—to formulate how you will take a calculated risk once Mercury gets out of retrograde on March 10th—a risk that reveals a profound shift in what you feel you are capable of—and what you deserve. Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. And if you need support navigating a personal situation, book a reading with me.
The full moon in your sign this month on the 8th/9th, shines a light on your capacity to distinguish what is of benefit in your world and what is just pretending to be good for you. You’d be wise to brush up, Leo, on the practicalities of distinguishing real gold from fool’s gold (also known as pyrite)—which serves as a metaphor for your life right now. Real gold has an irregular shape; fool’s gold is often uniform in structure. Real gold is bright and untarnished; fool’s gold can have greenish/blueish streaks. Real gold will not change color when nitric acid is applied; fool’s gold will dissolve. Your beautiful uniqueness is your strength; you are not meant to follow the crowd, and certainly not this month as Mars in Sagittarius energizes your creativity and romance sectors and Venus in Aries helps you re-evaluate the bigger picture of your life. The key this month is to embrace the direction your heart really wants to go—that is where you will shine, Leo. Under the light of the full moon you will see who is real and bright and true in your world, and who has been concealing their envy beneath a friendly facade. The fakery is soon to dissolve in your life as you remain steadfast in honoring the desires of your heart. There’s a sense of urgency about you this month—you realize that your time is valuable and has been frittered away, resulting in you perhaps feeling like certain people have played you for a fool. When Mars enters Capricorn on the 16th, you will feel fired up over some new business pursuit or health regimen. Mercury goes retrograde in Pisces on the same day in your 8th house of personal transformation. The second half of February helps you mine your past for nuggets of inspiration and information that can help you transform your life. You’re about to tap into a vein of gold, Leo—a solid resource, person, situation that will support you for the remainder of 2020. Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. I admit that when I was in high school I procrastinated terribly on writing papers—not because I was a bad writer. On the contrary! But because I wanted to write about visions and dreams and creative stuff, not analyze the reasons why if the French hadn’t entered the Revolutionary War we Americans would still be curtseying to the Queen. You could be feeling that way this month too, Virgo—especially around the full moon in Leo on the 8th/9th, with Mars stirring up your fourth house which rules home, family, roots. You could be steeped in the visions and dreams of what might have been—and you could be holding onto people, situations, and things that really do need to be let go of if you want to change your future. Like my aversion to writing analytical history papers, you’re procrastinating on letting go of a part of your past that really does belong in the dustbin of your personal history. When Mars finally enters Capricorn on the 16th, you will feel the impetus to initiate a monumental change in your life. The thing is—Mercury goes retrograde in Pisces your 7th house on the same day, and with a new moon in Pisces on the 23rd, you could be trying to make a fresh start in healing your relationships, yet old patterns and “stuff” from the past crop up to impede forward progress. That’s okay. This Mercury retrograde is going to help you clear out your literal and figurative closets. With Venus in Aries, your eighth house of transformation, there’s bound to be a treasure you will glean from this process by month’s end. You will feel lighter and freer by the end of February, your energy now available for much more inspired pursuits. Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. “Surrender” has a different energy than “quitting,” and you know this better than most, Libra, having endured some rather difficult energy the last several years as Saturn has been testing you with roadblock after roadblock and restriction after restriction. The spiritual test of saint-level patience you’ve undergone was, I believe, Saturn’s way of helping you understand the meaning of not quitting before the miracle happens. Surrendering to and trusting in divine timing was part of that lesson as well. And now you’re set to graduate from Saturn’s rather rigorous curriculum as the full moon in Leo on February 8th/9th brings a miracle into your midst. Venus traveling in your 7th house of relationships could bring a long-desired partner into your life or some benefit through a friend or business partnership. If you’re already coupled, you may be especially loved up at this full moon and perhaps even make a stronger commitment to your relationship. As Mars moves into your fourth house of home and family on February 16th, you could be making plans to move in with your sweetie. If you’re already living together, then the emphasis is on renovating the home, buying a home, helping a family member move in or out, etc. Mercury goes retrograde also on the 16th, in your sixth house of work and health, so a plan that didn’t quite come together previously could do so now. You’ve learned to not be so attached to your agenda and accept the Universe’s benevolent guidance as it steers you in the right direction. The new moon in Pisces on the 23rd could bring more money into your life—a “gift from the Universe” for not quitting on making your dreams come true. Although others observing your life would think (most) everything is fine on the outside, you know the truth, Scorpio. A secret sorrow—one from either long ago or a bit more recent—has lately preoccupied you more than you would like. The wise words of poet Maya Angelou are applicable to your situation this month: “Every storm runs out of rain.” I suspect that around the full moon (8th/9th) of this month you’ll shed those last few tears and put that sorrow behind you. You’ve been a bit impatient with yourself that it has taken this long to come out the other side of this particular emotional storm, but I suggest being a bit more gentle with yourself. There’s still plenty of time to turn your attention to career matters—and something really positive could manifest in that arena this month as Venus transits Aries (your sixth house of work and health). Venus likes to bring love and money—so greater appreciation could be headed your way. Let’s hope it’s not just in sweet words, but also in cold hard cash. The new moon in Pisces on the 23rd (in your fifth house of romance/creativity) is keeping company with Mercury retrograde, Uranus in Taurus (in your 7th house of partnerships) and Mars in Capricorn (your third house of communication). It is possible that there’s a fresh start for you in a love or creative project with ties to the past. Just make sure it’s clear skies ahead with this opportunity and not a repeat of the storm that’s finally run its course through your life. You need honest joy, Scorpio, not dark clouds of third party situations, lies, or flaky characters. Since Mercury is retrograde, don’t commit yourself until mid-March—simply explore your options for now. Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. Mars has been churning through your sign since early January, squaring Neptune in Pisces and likely making you wonder when the fog and uncertainty will ever clear. You’ve been going back and forth on some situation, unable to choose—and this level of self-doubt is usually not your style. But recent events have clipped the wings on your archer’s arrows and you are trying to be better at aiming for more solid targets, ones that you can clearly envision and have a clear payoff. So it’s no surprise that you’ve been feeling frustrated and that your frustration has caused you to be impatient with others and with yourself. As the full moon in Leo on the 8th/9th lights up your house of vision, the fog begins to lift, and you will see the vista of your life from an inspired perspective. With Venus newly arrived in Aries, your fifth house of love and creativity, you should have tangible evidence this month of who loves ya, baby. The unwavering support of at least one person in your life who has complete faith in you goes a long way this month toward boosting your spirits. Mars enters Capricorn on the 16th, and Mercury goes retrograde the same day. Matters involving the home and family are in the frame for the rest of February, and you’re focused on finances and the money you need to either refurbish/repair your home or make a move in the near future. The new moon on the 23rd is a good time to revisit your plans regarding how you live, where you live, and who with. You’re not likely ready to make a signifiant move yet (and that’s okay, with Mercury Retrograde), but it’s a good time to research the roadmap for the next big phase of your life that’s about to manifest. Is this a “new break through or an old break down,” Capricorn? (See Shawn Colvin’s song “Round of Blues”) You’ve been hearing the sound of wheels, but how come it seems you’re going nowhere fast? Where’s your new destiny? When is your chance gonna come to “live in color and laugh out loud”? Well, it’s here, darling, it’s here, thanks to Mars blasting his way into your sign on the 16th, where it will soon meet up with Jupiter and then in March meet up with your two favorites (ahem) Pluto and Saturn. While I think Shawn Colvin is a brilliant songwriter, you might want to ditch her “Round of Blues” for Bachmann Turner Overdrive’s “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.” Something you’re not soon to forget is going to be manifesting in your life, Capricorn, likely to involve a serious gift from the Universe that will rock you to your roots. If any love is good love, then take what you can get, because the Universe is bringing it to you right to your doorstep as Venus in Aries transits your fourth house. The new moon in Pisces on the 23rd hooks up with Mars and Uranus—you should feel a burst of renewal with some creative project or romantic interest. The text messages could be flying fast between you and someone interesting, but Mercury is retrograde so the usual cautions apply when it comes to making commitments. Your brain could be buzzing aplenty with innovative ideas of how you can breathe fresh life into an old dream of yours and finally make it come true. Happy Birthday, Aquarius! - When I was growing up, my next door neighbor and best friend, Todd (an Aquarius), and I would have Monopoly-playing marathons on summer breaks, and we’d only stop for lunch. We’d often snack on M and M’s while playing, and one hot summer the chocolate did indeed melt in our hand and Todd left a smeary fingerprint on back of one of the yellow Community Chest cards. From then on, we knew which card was “Bank Error in Your Favor—collect $200.” The picture on that card depicts Mr. Monopoly being blown backward by a bank teller’s hand thrusting a big wad of cash in his direction. I mention this to you, Aquarius, because Mercury goes retrograde on the 16th in your house of money. This could result in a bank error in your favor—or not. Carefully check all financial transactions for any fraudulent shenanigans just to be on the safe side. Also, this is excellent energy to work on manifesting unexpected abundance through creative visualization. See yourself in a similar situation as the Monopoly guy, being swept off your feet by a bucketload of Benjamins. It is also possible that some money-making idea or opportunity resurfaces, particularly if this situation is connected to working from home and/or a side business. It’s a good month to go back to the drawing board and re-envision a writing or marketing / publicity project, something that could absolutely thrust you into the spotlight when Mars meets up with Saturn in your sign in early April. It’s a great month to put your unique “fingerprint” on some enjoyable pursuit that could eventually help you collect much more than just $200. Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. And if you need support navigating a personal situation, book a reading with me.
Happy Birthday, February Pisces! Back in the day, long before Instagram and its ubiquitous # hashtags, proofreaders and copyeditors used the “octothorpe” (fancy pants official name for the # symbol) to indicate where a space was needed in a manuscript. I bring this to your attention, Pisces, because you need a little #space this month. Not because you’re doing your typical Pisces disappearing act when things get a little too heavy and you don’t want to let someone down, but because you need to not let yourself down this month. You need some “me” time scheduled in your diary. Mercury is in your sign this month, and it will go retrograde on the 16th. The last two weeks of February, particularly around the 23rd when there’s a new moon in your sign, is an excellent time to re-assess where you’re going, why, and with whom. There’s so much powerful energy in your 11th house of hopes and wishes in 2020, Pisces, so don’t waste it on plans hatched by bringing only your head into the game. You need your heart to occupy its proper #space in making your manifestation plans for 2020. This month you are making some long-overdue adjustments in how you spend your time; you’re seeing how valuable you are and that you want to invest your time into situations and people that give you a good return on that investment. No more freeloaders nor emotional vampires who just drain you dry. You’re creating plenty of #space between you and those types this month. An infusion of gifts from the Universe should please you this month as Venus enters Aries your second house of income and self-esteem. Set aside some of that dosh to treat yourself, but remember not to spend on any big ticket items until mid-March once Mercury is safely out of retrograde. Let me know in the comments what’s going on for you with this energy. And if you need support navigating a personal situation, book a reading with me.
